Preparation process
  1. To proof the yeast: In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, stir together 1 package active dry yeast and 2 tablespoons sweetener in warm milk. Let proof until bubbly.
  2. Add into the sifted flour the rest of the sweetener, salt, pour the yeast mixture and add a yolk. Stir all the ingredients together.
  3. Add the melted butter (ghee) and make the dough until dough is smooth and elastic. It will be sticky.
  4. Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour under a cloth.
  5. On a floured roll, roll the dough to a thickness of approximately 0.5 cm.
  6. Cut circles by using wineglass.
  7. On half of all of the circles pour the jam. Use the remaining circles as a cover.
  8. Press the edges of the donuts with your fingers and let rise for another 15-25 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for approximately 25-30 minutes

Tip: Blend the sweetener in the blender or coffee grinder to make a powder. Sprinkle donuts with powdered sweetener.
